继奥斯卡最大漏洞演员 Leonardo DiCaprio 终凭电影《The Revenant》夺得 2016 年最佳男主角殊荣后，现呼声最高的「无奖影后」必非 Amy Adams 莫属。但假若撇除演员组别不说，最佳摄影一奖从 1994 年至今亦酝酿出一名提名 13 次也不获评委认同的摄影大师 － Roger Deakins。从 1994 年初次凭电影《The Shawshank Redemption》获得奥斯卡最佳摄影提名后，便一直与奖项擦肩而过达 21 年之久。Deakins 最终于本年度奥斯卡颁奖典礼凭《Blade Runner 2049》大热获奖，一了所有支持者及其本人的心愿。是次虽属 Deakins 本人首次获奖，但他摄制的高质佳作却早已达电影界的教科书标准。HYPEBEAST 特意将其获提名的作品剪辑成 1 分钟的精华片段，一口气感受摄影大师的超人视觉威力。

Roger Deakins 首部获得奥斯卡提名的作品，当中电影结尾讲述男主角 Dufresne 成功越狱后在雨中摊开双手一幕更成为电影史上最经典的画面之一。《The Shawshank Redemption》固然是让 Deakins 声名大噪的作品，电影中不少充满艺术感的构图都成为这位大师的拍摄特色之一。

姑且不浪费篇幅介绍 James Bond 电影系列之一 －《Skyfall》，唯当中最受影评人赞颂的镜头运用却是遭不少观众忽略的精彩之处。电影前段讲述 Bond 为追查恐妨 MI6 探员资料外泄一事而跟踪 Patrice 到上海某高楼大厦，最终却遭发现并展开打斗。Deakins 以玻璃与大厦外墙灯饰所折射的光影为画面元素之一，并仅以剪影营造打斗场面的紧凑气氛。

《Prisoners》揭开了导演 Denis Villeneuve 与 Roger Deakins 双方合作的序幕，故事探讨人性与道德观念间的矛盾。电影结尾讲述由 Jake Gyllenhaal 饰演的探员寻获被绑架的女孩后赶急将受害人送往医院抢救，而 Deakins 便善用了那短短的路程以近乎没有背景音乐辅助的方式拍摄出 Gyllenhaal 急切的心情并将电影推至另一巅峰。
